Born and Raised on Vancouver Island, Island Rogue is a huge Star Wars geek and film buff. He was introduced to X-wing Miniatures by a girl he was seeing at the time, who showed him a video on the website "Table Toppers". The game looked so interesting, He knew he had to buy it. Island Rogue prefers less ships that fight well spread out than a swarm builds and tries to get this present in all his lists, he also loves the underdogs such as the Tie Defender and the Ewing. What he is most excited about though? Scum, Scum all the way. Check out Island Rogue's Player Profile here.

The Emperor’s Will

Last week brought something exciting to the tables of Xwing players. The Raider found it’s way to the shores after being on the boat for all too long. The release quickly brought the Tie Advance back to the table in a big way, giving it many options and builds that the poor ships sorely lacked. I played a tournament this past weekend and a good two thirds of the lists had the Lord of the Sith himself, Vader or some other Advances on the board. The Raider pack brought another amazing piece to the hands of Imperial players, The Emperor.

Shadows of the StarViper

With the release of the new faction Scum and Villainy, the game of X-Wing gained may new and interesting ships to it’s roster of choices. The IG-2000 is already making waves in the tournament scene, and Scum HWKs are annoying players everywhere. There’s one ship though that hasn’t exploded onto the meta as violently, but is sneaking it’s way into people’s lists, and taking control of their enemies – the Star Viper. If you’re not familiar with this amazing ship, this article will help you get better acquainted.

Forgotten Aces: Kyle Katarn

In X-Wing you have many different ships and pilots to choose from, each with unique abilities. Some of these pilots and ships are overlooked by the tournament goers and the Meta at large, getting little to no representation at the tournament level. I call these overlooked Pilots the “Forgotten Aces.” Last time I looked at Horton Salm and his unique pilot ability. This week I look at a pilot from the impeccable Dark Forces games and personally a character I grew up loving, Kyle Katarn.

Kyle Katarn is known in the books and games to be a believer in the blaster and not much of a pilot. This suitably lands him in the mid-range of the named pilots (PS 6) with a highly supportive ability in a ship that is seen as a support vessel for the Rebels. His ship, the HWK-290, is a interesting ship that can hold it’s own with 1 shield, 4 hull and 2 agility to get it past some tricky shots. So why is Kyle missing from the tournament tables? Forgotten Aces: Horton Salm

In X-Wing you have many different ships and pilots to choose from, each with unique abilities. Some of these pilots and ships are overlooked by the tournament goers and the Meta at large, getting little to no representation at the tournament level. I call these overlooked Pilots the “Forgotten Aces.” Last week I looked at Rexlar Brath in his TIE Defender. This week I look at a pilot from the movies, and the first rebel pilot I have chosen for Forgotten Aces: Horton Salm.

Horton is the highest most skilled pilot (PS 8) to fly in the Y-Wing, a ship widely used as support and back up for the rebels. The Y-Wing is sturdy with it’s 3 shields and 5 hull, taking a lot of hits despite it’s 1 agility dice. Horton has an ability that would be considered amazing on almost any ship. So why is he completely missing from the tournament tables?

Forgotten Aces: Rexler Brath

In X-Wing you have many different ships and pilots to choose from, each with unique abilities. Some of these pilots and ships are overlooked by the tournament goers and the Meta at large, getting little to no representation at the tournament level. I call these overlooked Pilots the “Forgotten Aces.”

This weeks Forgotten Ace is a pilot that flies one of my favourite ships in the game but even I have not used him much, Rexler Brath.

The Adventures of Rusty!

This weekend was an exciting one for me in my world of X-Wing, it was my first chance at an Escalation Style Tournament. I had only heard about them from more seasoned players and never thought I’d get the chance to play in one. Luckily for me, the “FoodHammer” organizers thought it was the perfect format for their charity event.
