Custom Repaint: B-Wing Red Squadron with Rebel Logo

This repaint I used as a Dagger Squadron ship, or a thematic Red Squadron ship. It’s been modded to be fully rotational as with my other B-Wing mods. A few freehand rebel logos on the wings make it really stand out.

For the Rebel logos, I used “Rodent Mastermind’s” system seen below.

Painting-Rebel-SymbolYou can read Rodent’s original thread on painting logos here. I recommend you check it out. His paint jobs are a pleasure to see.

Below is a gallery of some close up shots of the B-Wing. The red I used on the model is Vallejo’s Scarlett Red.

  1. That’s a great showcasing of doing the freehand iconography in these games. I cannot draw for the life of me, but I’ve used ideas like this to work around my perceived lack of freehand talent to really bring some models to life.

It was an experience doing the Rebel Alliance logo on Gideon and the mythosaur skull on Boba Fett for Imperial Assault, but those models look really sharp with those details added on.

It seems like an unnecessary detail for some, but I encourage any beginner to intermediate painters out there to give it a try. It’s a lot easier to clean up mistakes than you might think, and the final product will make you that much more proud of your work.

Nice work on the fleet. You continue, as always, to make me feel ashamed for not getting that backlog finished quick enough. That work you did on Rebellion was great by the way. Also, damn you for accomplishing that. My ambivalence towards your continued progress no doubt plays a small part in keeping me motivated to get those IA models finished.

I’ve seen your Boba, but I don’t think I’ve seen Gideon. Post some pics!

I totally agree on this point. Painting a small detail is not so scary because you can cover up mistakes with paint and tweak it until it’s good to go!

Ha, ha. thanks brah! I’ll be posting the Rebel painting guide soon.

Now, now Dave, between the two of us I have the worse motivator. I know you’ve got much better painting habits than me. That being said, the “painting queue” (shudder!) is the bane of us all…
